But for this blog, I wanted to let my thoughts out regarding the creative process itself. What to do when the idea is just there, to create, to dance, to sing, to bring something to life?

Here is what I do…

Here I am at a cafe listening to some wonderful music. Even Though it’s noisy and crowded, it’s not bother me to say the least. I went to grab coffee and return to my cabin, but I was sucked in by the music first then by the atmosphere that tickles my excitement and creatify.

I looked around and suddenly wanted to write. I do not have a notepad nor do I have my phone, as I normally would do. I only came down to grab a cup of coffee. Here I am wandering around and looking for a space to rest and think, realizing that I am not going back to my cabin anytime soon. What to do?

I sat at a table to enjoy the music then wanted to write. I walked slowly to the bar and asked the bartender to provide me with a pen. I grabbed a handful of napkins and returned to my seat. I started writing on a napkin forgetting all that is around me. Connecting to the music to simply write. My thoughts and ideas come to live with each word I write down on this fragile napkin that might not resist the test of time. Will it?

Do not wait for the perfect moment to create. Whenever you have a thought or an idea, write it down before it goes away and never come back. There is no such a thing as the perfect moment to create.

I believe that the process of creating something is the closest we can get to the creator. The closest we can get to the higher power. Creating is the ultimate way to be close to divinity.

The question, however, is do we all have the ability to create? I am not sure about that?

This might be a discussion for another moment, or you can leave your comments and thoughts about whether all people can create?

But for now, my focus is the feeling of creating something and it seems to me that for anyone who has ideas, they should not stop creating. They must do so!! Just do it!

It took me a long time to find out this about myself. I did not have anyone advising me nor did I have anyone to help me figure things out about myself. Growing up, it was a different time. But I always wrote about my emotions and kept a journal no matter where I was in life. This journal helped later on to make decisions and find out things about myself that I would never have had if I did not document those faces in my life. Hence, my desire to share my journey and experiences in hope it can help you out there.

I often listen to creators talk about how they feel overwhelmed. They experience an avalanche of thoughts and ideas in a head that is about to explode: noise, chaos, ideas, thoughts, visions, glimpses, and pieces of a puzzle that don’t always provide a complete vision of the final work.

Yet, the creator moves in one piece at a time into the board to finalize the work, the lyrics, the music, the note. Everytime one additional piece is added it brings the creator closest to the creation.

How to overcome the overwhelming feeling?

  1. Take a moment to pause and think.
  2. Write down your thoughts and ideas, don’t let them go.
  3. Start by categorizing what next.
  4. Prioritize your ideas and see what comes first.

Whatever your situation is wherever you are in the process. If you are a creator you must create because that is the closest you can be to your creator. Keep creating!
